    Diary

Kennel Dalnews runs a small breeding of Dalmatians, and are situated in Ås, 4 miles south of Oslo. We live in a rural area, not far from the Norwegian University of life sciences (UMB). We have both had the interest in dogs for many years. Knut grew up with German pointers, used actively in hunting and sleigh pulling. while I used to be a "dog nanny" for several dogs in my neighborhood, and this gave me knowledge about many different breeds.

The name of our kennel was official approved the 18th of May 2004, and Kennel Dalnews first litter was born the 17th of March 2005. All our litters are given a Hungarian middle name, since Hungary is very important to me.

Today we have five Dalmatians, three bitches lives at home with us, while one bitch and one dog lives with co-owners. Solbo's Chiba "Tara" is our first Dalmatian and she came to us in the summer of 2002 from Kennel Solbos in Sweden, Dalmo's Evita "Tini" arrived the summer of 2004 from Kennel Dalmo and Dalnews Csak Chanel "Tessi" from our third litter, born i 2008. Kennel Solbos and Kennel Dalmo have been breeding Dalmatians for more than 25 years and have achieved some great results.

Our dog, Dalnews Arany Avalon "Birko" from our first litter and our bitch Dalnews Bajnok Bindi "Bindi" from our second litter, are co-owned with Maria Hagerup-Jenssen. Maria  is a person we appreciate very much, and we cooperate well regarding our dogs.

As breeders our goal and wish are to breed healthy, good-tempered Dalmatians typical for the breed. We follow the Norwegian Kennel Club's ethical guidelines for breeding, and The Norwegian Dalmatian Clubs criteria for the pedigree dogs.

As breeders we find it important that the puppies get a good start in life, so we put a lot of effort into imprinting and socializing the puppies. We want our puppies to be social and trusting when they arrive in their new homes. They grow up in our living room where they're able to spend a lot of time with us. They get used to the many sounds in our house, and the people that visit, at an early stage. The puppies also have the opportunity to spend much time outdoors, if the weather allows it. All our puppies are delivered registrered in the Nowegian Kennel Club, ID-marked, vaccinated, anti-worm treated and comes with a health-certificate.

As breeders we want to be available to our puppy buyers and we put much effort into good follow-up. The first period afther the puppies have left is important, and many questions may arise. We want our buyers to know that they are welcome to come to us for advice and guidance, and we appreciate much that our buyers get in touch to let us know how they're doing. That's way we hope that our puppy-buyers keep in touch.

As a puppy-buyer we want you to know that to get a puppy is a choice that should be well considered, planned and something that the whole familiy agrees in. You should be aware of the fact that you include a new family member that will bring much joy for many years to come, whit the commitments that follows. Whether you have any previous experience with dogs is not so important, but the interest to learn is of great importance.

As a puppy-buyer we find it important that you invest time in your dogs up growth and make sure that basic obedience and socialization is present, and you'll get a well functioning and easygoing dog. I always recommend my buyers to join a puppy class where you and your puppy will learn a lot, and get a good foundation for further training. Good socialization is also important for the puppy and young dog.

Dog shows is an activity we enjoy. We travel to different shows whit our dogs, and this is social for both dog and owners. The results aren't always the most important, although most people find it more fun when their dogs might have success in the ring, but it's also a good opportunity to get to know other Dalmatians and their owners.

Although we are active in dog shows, we make no demands to our buyers to show their dog, your dog is first of all a family dog, and no breeder can promise you a "star". But if you want to try showing your dog in the ring, we are happy to help.

We are active members of the Norwegian Dalmatian Club, where we among other things have taken part in arranging big dog shows, and Follo Brukshundklubb where we train agility with our dogs. We find it important to be active with our dogs. You need time for a dog, and mental training is as important as physical exercise.
